Windows and iPhone guide, with preparation cards and real inspection footage.Download video

Preparation cards explain the phone settings and trust prompts; recorded CrocProbe footage shows the inspection. Recorded with CrocProbe 1.0.7 on Windows and a physical iPhone.

Follow along with your own phone

  1. Prepare Windows. Install Apple Devices or iTunes from the Microsoft Store, then open CrocProbe.
  2. Connect the iPhone. Use a USB data cable, unlock the phone, and complete its Trust This Computer prompt yourself.
  3. Enable Web Inspector. On the iPhone, open Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced and turn on Web Inspector. Leave Safari open on the page you want to inspect.
  4. Check Setup. In CrocProbe, follow the next step shown until the phone and Safari page are available.
  5. Inspect. Choose the page in the sidebar, select an element in the live preview, and read its styles and geometry. Scrolling the preview moves the real page.

If the phone or page does not appear, start with Apple USB service troubleshooting, missing Safari targets, or a suspended Safari page.

Using a Mac? macOS already includes Apple USB support. The phone still needs to trust the computer and have Web Inspector enabled.

Let's inspect a Safari page on a real iPhone, using CrocProbe on Windows.

First, install Apple Devices or iTunes. Connect the phone by USB, unlock it, and complete Trust This Computer.

On the iPhone, open Settings, Apps, Safari, Advanced. Turn on Web Inspector. Then leave Safari open on the page you want to inspect.

In CrocProbe, open Setup. Follow the next step shown until your phone and its Safari tab are available.

Choose the page under your iPhone in the sidebar. The live preview shows the page running on that phone.

Click a card in the preview to inspect its styles and geometry. Scrolling the preview scrolls the real page.
